Australian Designer Hallacian Bodie
Factio Magazine : What is the motivating force that prompted you to become a fashion designer?
Hallacian Bodie: We saw a gap in the market for sexy unique swimwear.
Something fashionable rather than functional & that reflects the personality of
the wearer.
FM:How does Australia inspire you as a designer? What are your other inspirations?
HB: We draw inspiration from the free spirit of the Australian woman
who is not afraid to show off her body (outdoor nation). This allows us as
designers to experiment & create more daring designs.
FM:What has been your realization of success this far?
We design for all shapes & sizes - one of our best moments to
date was seeing a size 16 girl on the beach in our bella donna bikini looking like
an absolute goddess.
FM : What is the one decision that changed your life as far as your career goes?
HB: Having the daily pleasure of working & growing creatively with
your sister. Building a dream together.
What is your ultimate vision for your designs?
HB: To be showcased on the world stage.
FM:What is the signature style of your collections? And, what is your trademark look?
HB: Our signature style would be 1950’s inspired ring bikini that has
been our best seller for the last three seasons. Our trademark looks include
cutaway one pieces, bikinis that are "sweet on the bum", unique prints with a
luxe vintage feel & intricate details such as large diamante d - rings.
FM : Do you have a design philosophy for creating your designs?
HB: We design for women to show off what they think they have ...
rather than trying to hide what they think they don't have. To give women an
opportunity to wear a bikini that expresses their individuality.
FM : How does your collection set you apart from other young designers?
HB: Our collection separates us from other designers because we
step outside of the square - swimwear can be about more than just lycra.
FM : What was your inspiration for this collection (the feature spring / summer collection on www.factio-magazine.com)? And, what is your area of focus for your fall 2004 collection?
HB: The inspiration for this collection came from birds of paradise in all
their forms.
