Kimora Lee Simmons

Designer Spotlight: Kimora Lee Simmons began her career at the age of fifteen as a high fashion model and muse for Chanel impresario Karl Lagerfeld. Since then, she has gone on to become an internationally renowned fashion designer while serving as the President and Creative Director for Baby Phat, Inc. The company has continued to thrive in the urban-female consumer world, selling everything from clothing to handbags to cell phones to millions of consumers. Kimora’s innate style and design is also reflected in her new jewelry line.

Kimora has also seen tremendous success in television, hosting MTV’s Fashionably Loud, America’s Next Top Model, and on MetroChannels’ Full Frontal Fashion. She also appeared as Shamira in NBC’s For Your Love and in the film The Big Tease. Kimora is looking forward to expanding her film career over the next year and is currently reading scripts for prospective projects. Additionally, she is working on her upcoming Sony Television talk show Life and Style (a hybrid of the View) co-starring Jules Asner, which is slated to debut in Fall 2004. Kimora also earned a Tony Award in June 2003 as executive producer of the critically acclaimed Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry Jam.

Additional projects for Kimora include forming a recent partnership with Kellwood Industries and developing a new fragrance. She has an interest in developing signature furniture line for a major retailer. Kimora is penning a new book to be released in Fall 2004 about the urban lifestyle—an area in which she is clearly an expert. The book will explore her experiences in the fashion, music, beauty, entertainment, and business worlds offering tips on everything from how to improve your life—spiritually, financially, and physically—to maintaining a healthy balance both professionally and personally.
