Tracey Mayer Jewelry
Unveiling the “Wow” Factor…

By Melissa Maynard

There are certain jewelry designers that have the certain "wow" factor regarding their pieces and Tracey Mayer is one of them. Her jewelry speaks volumes when worn - to the wearer and to the beholder.

Whenever I wear a Tracey Mayer babble –from her incredible cocktail rings to her breathtaking bracelets, I get strangers coming up to me complimenting the piece. About a month ago, I was at the Field Associates party for the Field Museum exhibit Jackie Kennedy: The White House Years, at the wet bar getting my signature spirit, when a man says to me, “That’s a fabulous cocktail ring”…. that man was the owner of the well-known Chicago store Couture Club. And, no doubt, he knows a great ring when he sees it.

Her pieces spark conversation and intrigue, as they are beautiful, unique, and utterly stunning. “Many designers have a signature look. I prefer to offer variety in my designs because my moods change from day to day and I believe every woman should have a selection of jewelry from which to choose. It also keeps the collections fresh and unique, challenging me,” says Tracey Mayer, president and designer of Tracey Mayer, Inc. One of her beliefs is that accessories define a woman’s style….and we couldn’t agree more. Wear one of her pieces, and you are guaranteed to get noticed and turn heads.

This designer is one to watch. Mark my words; be ready to see her in glossies coast to coast….

Factio Magazine: Your jewelry is amazing! Your cocktail rings are beautifully oversized and glamorous. What inspires you for them and all of your pieces?
Tracey Mayer: We use 950 silver, which is slightly more pure than sterling silver, and gives the jewelry a long lasting luster. Inspiration for the cocktail rings comes from my love of classics. Grace Kelly is one of my favorite women; her style was so effortlessly polished. The rings are designed to be “wow” pieces.

FM: What are your biggest inspirations? What’s your design philosophy?
TM: My inspiration is dictated by my design philosophy, which is to create unique yet timeless pieces, fusing East with West, and never limiting myself to one ethnic inspiration. I make traditions modern by mixing European standards of excellence with Eastern craftsmanship, resulting in time-honored style. My goal is to make every woman feel great and confident when she wears one of my pieces.

FM: Do you follow trends or are you into more classic looks concerning jewelry?
TM: We are aware of trends, but do not design around what we see on the runway. For example, brooches are so hot right now. We have been doing brooches all along, so it seems natural to continue with them; however, I wanted to design something unique. Our mabe’ pearl “Splash” brooch is the result…timeless beauty. I would rather set the trends than follow them.

FM: What happens when people stop you in a restaurant, café, cocktail party, and ask about your unique jewelry?
TM:
I am thrilled to have them notice the jewelry! I generally give them a business card and direct them to our website, TraceyMayer.com. Recently, a woman stopped me to ask about the necklace I was wearing. I told her she could order one, but she wanted it for an event she had the following day, in New York. She was visiting Chicago for the day and flying back that night. She begged me to sell her the necklace off my neck, so I agreed!

FM: What other designers influence you?
TM: Calvin Klein for his timeless style and his choice to stay true to himself. I also enjoy Michael Kors and love his new line of more affordable clothing, which is ultra stylish.

FM: What other goals do you wish to conquer?
TM: Our plan is to strategically place the collections in upscale boutiques, specialty stores, and department stores, as well as continue to build our e-commerce business. We recently launched our first men’s collections, which is very exciting! We will work hard to establish a presence with these collections as well. A very important part of the business is the philanthropic sector. We believe very strongly in giving back and, as the company continues to grow, this will enable us to do more.

FM: What type of woman wears your jewelry? Which celeb would you love to wear your pieces or which celeb(s) already do?
TM: The woman who wears my jewelry exudes confidence. She has the ability to personalize her look….to interpret trends in a unique way. She has a look that is not too done or polished; her personal style shines through. This woman successfully mixes and matches designers to suit her. She can transform from bohemian chic to woman to vamp and back again. She will captivate, charm, and seduce as she wishes! I would love to see Sharon Stone, Uma Thurman, Charlize Theron, Angelina Jolie, and Halle Berry wear my collections.

The price ranges for her incredible jewelry is from $65-$600. And, well worth every penny. Turn heads...order now. The beautiful Blue Topez cocktail ring (pictured) is $275 and the Prima Cuff (also pictured) is $475.
