A jewelry line inspired by the wire…
Sarah Emerick, owner and designer of Wired Jewelry Arts, began designing
jewelry five years ago for herself and her friends as an outlet for
her creative energy. “I design my jewelry as a way to express
myself. I like to consider it as an art form,” says Emerick.
Inspired by art, pop culture and vintage
designs Emerick is always keeping up on what’s new and unique.
Each piece of jewelry is one-of-a-kind, created with passion made
by experimenting with different colors and textures. The different
materials used for each piece include glass beads and pendants,
steel and silver wire, sterling sliver accents, Lucite, crystal,
semi-precious stones and vintage beads and pendants from the ‘20s
to the ‘80s.
Emerick mainly designs necklaces and earrings
and occasionally a matching bracelet or ring upon request in styles
ranging from dainty and classic to kitschy and bold. Her portrait
necklaces are incredibly unique using details of Renaissance and
Impressionistic painting, particularly images of the Madonna or
angels, as well as some contemporary images, which she turns into
glass pendants. When she is creating a necklace for a specific person,
she’s inspired by their style, trying to design something
perfect to fit that person.
Her jewelry can be purchased at Glam to Go, 2002
W. Roscoe in Chicago or Tribeca, 2480 N. Lincoln in Chicago. To

I'm inspired by… art in all its forms.
My next move is… to explore more of Chicago's
great boutiques. I'd to see
what some other designers are doing, and I'd love to expand my line
to more
places in the city. I need to find my niche.
My future plan is to… continue designing
jewelry, and to always keep it new.
I hope to never fall into a rut. I'm constantly hunting for new
materials,
styles, and inspirations, and my passion to create unique things
keeps me
going. I hope to expand to more shops, and continue to find people
receptive to what I'm doing.
I have to buy… about a thousand CDs
and books on my ever-growing wish list,
and tickets to see Johnny Marr next week. As far as jewelry materials,
the
hunt never ends. I always find the best things when I'm not even
looking
for them.
