Noteworthy Events in Chicago - Salon BlondeFashion Night and Marshall Field's Glamorama...

The Fun of Blondeness…

Chicago – Salon Blonde Fashion Night was a hit. This savvy upscale underground fashion extravaganza was something out of Sex and the City, only the main attraction wasn’t Carrie Bradshaw – It was Salon Blonde, (143 W. North Ave.), owners Dawn Doerfler and Margaret Pasiennik and of course “The Apprentice”, Bill Rancic. The savvy insider event was held at the Fletcher-Jones Mercedes-Benz dealership.

Some of the best boutiques were showcased in four separate shows. We saw feminine fall pieces by Chloe from Helen Yi – 1812 S. State St., Bynum & Bang – 2143 W. Division, apartment number 9- 1804 N. Damen Ave., P.45- 1643 N. Damen Ave. and sexy lingerie from La Perla- www.laperla.com for locations.

VIP’s enjoyed all of these shows, including Prada’s fall fashion private preview. The lavish evening included a free-flowing array of hors d’ oevres, martinis, and champagne and fashion, fashion, fashion.

And, the gift bags. Guests enjoyed fabulous gift bags after each show, filled with cosmetics like Smash Box, hair products, presents from La Perla and more gifts from all the stores.

As for Salon Blonde, the savvy salon in Wicker Park continues to redefine Chicago fashion and style and we will continue to see great things from them. Cutting edge, stylish and a place where any woman can feel well... blonde, no matter what her hair color is.

Guests then headed over to the Sound Bar, a new savvy club downtown.

Glamorama

Chicago –

“We’re taking this year’s Glamorama to a whole new level,” said JoAnn Young, Glamorama executive producer. “From legendary goddess Patti LaBelle to incredible designer fashions and gifted entertainers, Marshall Field’s is truly celebrating all things beautiful.”

Countless celebrities attended the glitzy Marshall Field’s Glamorama August 13th. The event is vastly becoming one of the must-attend events every year. This year icon after icon, walked the green carpet talking to press and posing for photographs, including Patti LaBelle, The Commodores, Jerry Hall, Kelly Hu of the X2 and Scorpion King movies, Bill Rancic the Apprentice, 80s icon Boy George, celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch, Ted Allen of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon of NYPD Blue and David Schwimmer of Friends were some of the many celebrities who attended the show and after party.

During the high-energy fashion show featured designers included: Matthew Williamson, Sonia Rykiel, JLo Lingerie, DSquared2, Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, John Malkovich, Uncle Kimono and Donna Karan. And, the show went out with a bang as 30 famous fashion designers, such as, Zac Posen, Stella McCartney, Jean Paul Gaultier and Yves Saint Laurent featured their one-of-a-kind red gowns for Marshall Field’s. Patricia Field, the renowned stylist for Sex in the City, was on hand to style the finale. After the show, guests were allowed to bid via Yahoo! or at the famous post-party on the noteworthy designs, where the dresses were auctioned for charity, benefiting the Art Institute of Chicago.

During the show, guests enjoyed musical performances by the legendary Patti LaBelle, The Commodores and Def Jam poet Karen Gibson Roc, who said she was more nervous about the press line than performing. All gave a jaw-dropping performance.

For the glamorous after party guests headed over to Marshall Field’s on State Street from the Chicago Theater. Marshall Field’s is known not to leave any stone unturned and no detail untouched. The post-party reflected a bold, surreal and sexy red paradise – where guests could indulge in drinks, fabulous cuisine and dancing the night away to Boy George as a DJ., not to mention the countless other hobnobbing and celebrity sightings that occurred.

Tickets for Glamorama ranged from $50 to $1,000.
