"PROJECT RUNWAY'S" WENDY PEPPER TO DEBUT LINE AT A CURE BY DESIGN CHARITY EVENT IN WASHINGTON D.C

Bravo's Designing Diva Teams with Design Within Reach to Raise Money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)

Washington D.C. - Wendy Pepper, the fashion designer that viewers loved to hate on Season One of Heidi Klum's "Project Runway" proves that she is more sugar than spice by partnering with Design Within Reach for a fantastic event to benefit The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The proclaimed diva of design will show new samplings from her collection for the first time publicly since Olympus Fashion Week 2005.   The April 11th event will be held at the DWR Design Studio in Washington's artistically vibrant Adams Morgan neighborhood.

The Middleburg, VA resident and single mom has been seriously busy since the show debuted in fall of 2004.  On Bravo's designer reality show Pepper won the Banana Republic Challenge and was awarded the opportunity to sell her designs in choice Banana Republic stores nationwide.  She also dressed Access Hollywood's Nancy O'Dell for last year's Grammy Awards.  Since the critically-acclaimed show aired, Pepper has been flooded with exciting opportunities such as appearances on "Battle of the Network Reality Stars," "Celebrity Poker Showdown," and a judging slot on the current season of "Project Runway."  Even with a grueling schedule, Pepper has found time to give back to the community by designing a collection of new couture fashion to debut at the April event.

"The JDRF is a superb organization. I am thrilled to participate in A Cure by Design.  Couture is my thing, if I can make a difference doing what I love then it's an all-around winning situation.  It is so important to give back to the community and I encourage everyone to get involved.  If I can cure by design then others can surely cure by cooking, writing, or dancing.  The possibilities are endless and the benefits are universal," said Pepper.

"We are delighted to be a part of such a fabulous event.  It is a sure sign that Washington has really evolved into an exciting city that appreciates style and design," said DWR Studio Proprietor and native Washingtonian Suzanne McLees.

In addition to mingling with Wendy Pepper, guests at A Cure by Design will have the opportunity to check out Design Within Reach's uber-chic assortment of classic and modern furnishings in their gorgeous, spacious, and newly launched Adams Morgan Studio.  After noshing on an array of treats, sipping wine, and grooving to some cool beats, an exciting drawing will round out the evening and provide guests with a chance to own a piece of Wendy Pepper couture.

"A Cure by Design will bring the best of fashion and furnishings together to raise money for a wonderful and caring organization.  The JDRF touches lives every day through community outreach and still maintains an efficiency rate of more than 80 percent. I am proud to raise money for an organization that has that kind of a track record," said event organizer and JDRF volunteer Matt Dornic.
