Marshall Field's Glamorama hailed to Vegas this year making "everything
wild." Top entertainers included Mr. Vegas himself - Wayne Newton,
Kina, a new female singer/songwriter, Balagan, aerial cirque-style
performers and Vegas showgirls were among the amazing talent that
made this fashion extravaganza entertainment worthy.
The fashion show included live musical performances, a dramatic light
show and oversized video backdrops. Models strutted down the circular
runway wearing designer frocks including Dolce & Gabbana, Just
Cavalli, Badgley Mischka and Celine. The looks for women were a mix
of romantic, showcasing Victorian blouses, ballet- neck sweaters with
hollow yarns, tall lace-up boots and asymmetrical skirts made of suede,
lace or wool jersey.
Another
look that inspired designers this year at Glamorama was the "new
realist", embracing traditional looks but with a spin. This
look consists of masculine influences, with wide-leg pants, menswear-patterned
pinstripes and the classic men's white shirt with French cuffs á la Sharon Stone.
The active lifestyle and the military were big influences in men's
fashion this year. Hints of military detailing, saddle shoulders
and raglan sleeves were some of the detail seen at Glamorama.
Following the show guests rushed off to the elaborate Vegas-themed
post parties to indulge in a re-creation of Sin City, featuring
Vegas showgirls, Roman arches, full buffets and even a wedding chapel
- with Elvis.
