Factio Magazine checks out music festival fashion from Lollapalooza
Every August, for three days, Grant Park gets taken over by concert and fashion junkies alike. Lollapalooza is just one of the many summer music festivals where fashion and music become one art form. Festival fashion is all about low maintenance looks with personality and a bit of intelligent creativity. Because these concert “seats” are merely trampled grass and mud, colored wellies have become a festival goer’s best friend. A trendy hat, recently fedoras are the “it” look, and a pair of sleek shades are another practical yet fashionable choice when it comes to shielding the sun for hours on end. Not to mention floral patterned rompers, ripped and cut denim (the grungier the better), and lightweight peasant tops and tunics to keep you feeling and looking cool. Add in a pop of color with neon shades or printed sandals and you’ve got the music festival look down to a science. Take advice from the festival fashion pros, the bands. Setting the pace for Lolla 2009 were fashion addicts like Vampire Weekend, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Santigold, to name a few.
