MBFW started off right with the collections of BCBG Max Azria, Richard Chai, Vena Cava, Erin Wasson + RCVA, L.A.M.B. and Mackage, among others.
Day 1 of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York started off right with the collections of BCBG Max Azria, Richard Chai, Vena Cava, Erin Wasson x RCVA, L.A.M.B. and Mackage, among others. Mr. and Mrs. Azria opted for a more practical look with geometric and color-blocked pieces with sequins strategically placed here and there. Inspired by a trip to Woodstock, Vena Cava showed shirtdresses layered over turtlenecks, and a stand-out gray leather jacket. Gwen Stefani had a minor issue when half of her L.A.M.B collection got stuck in the blizzard, but that didn’t stop her from putting on a show. When asked about her direction for fall 2010 she said, "vintage, boudoir, military, fifties, sexy, and futuristic." Richard Chai went for a 90s grunge look while Ports 1961 mixed nature with technology. Celebrities seen out and about on Thursday were Seann William Scott, Simon Rex, WhitneyPort and Amber Tamblyn. Newly famed singer, Ke$ha, showed up to Erin Wasson x RVCA along with Jared Leto from the band 30 Seconds to Mars. La Perla showcased their new collection at a cocktail presentation while The Tent housed the infamous Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection. This heart disease awareness show brought celebrities including Heidi Klum, Kim Kardashian and Robin Roberts to the runway to show off the newest red dresses of 2010. Proceeds benefit the Nation Institutes of Health in support of education and research about the disease. For more info you can check outwww.clothesoffourback.org. -Emily Ekern
