For the fifth season, Richard Chai debuted his Love collection at New York Fashion Week.
As each season passes his Love line seems to be gearing more and more toward streetwear fashion, especially in regards to color and pattern. For the first time ever, he unveiled men's and women's at the same time. Together they exuded a California hippie surfer vibe, but the first look took the cake. The opening look was a women's shrunken safari jacket worn on top of a yellow and green peplum tunic paired with floral-printed biker shorts. Something that appeared in many designs for spring and summer 2011 was also seen throughout Love. That something was purposeful pattern-clashing. The mismatching patterns gave the collection a captivating touch of eccentricity and played up the show's already cheerful spirit.
