Designers across the World Meet in Moscow for Russian Fashion Week
Thousands of people lined the street of Moscow on October 22nd, for the start of Russian Fashion Week just to take a glimpse of the international fashion world.
The founder of Russian Fashion Week, Alexander Shumsky has become a fixture in the cities of New York, Milan, London and Paris acting as an "ambassador" for the city of Moscow. Some of the worlds most celebrated fashion designers including fashion and media superstar Jeremy Scott, were recruited for the second Russian Fashion Week. Scott through out his career has dressed Madonna, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Bjork and many more. On this record-breaking trip Scott will join Madonna's stylist and Hollywood costumer, Arianne Phillips. Both Scott and Phillips will bring their unique sensibility not only to the Russian Fashion Week tents but also to Russian television and newspaper interviews.
Russian Fashion Week on October 26th launched a true "British Invasion" featuring six shows from London's most talented including, Matthew Williamson, and Sophie Kokosalaki, Antoni &Alison, Tata-Naka, Gharani Strok and Jenny Packham.
Through out the week, 60 Russian designers were featured such as Julia Dalakian, Max Chernitsov, Sultana Frantsuzova, Lidia Soselia, Razu Makhini, Yegor Zaitsev, Masha Sharoeva, Dmitry Loginov, Yulia Nikolaeva as well as NB Karavay from Ukraine, A&V from Lithuania, Avtandi from Georgia and Samoschenko from Belorussia.
"Russian Fashion Week has more than doubled in the past two year. The Russian Fashion Market is in rapid development. In addition to the luxury brands, which have always been appreciated in Moscow, local designers and emerging designers from other countries are now in demand. This is an exciting time for us all. Finally, the fashion world understands that Russia is a luxury market. The economy is booming, the cities are growing, the people are opening up and this all translates into business for international brands," said Shumsky.
The Russian Fashion Week organizers are Russian Fashion Foundation and Artefact Communications Agency. Sponsors for the show include, Pantene, Motorola, Audi, Coca-Cola Light, Elle Russia and Moet & Chandon exclusively.
