Oscar de la Renta Resorts to Past Influence for 2012
For his new resort collection, Oscar de la Renta pulls from a wide variety of influences to create vacation wear like never seen before.
He draws much of his inspiration from Cubism, with an array of printed dresses and separates Picasso himself would be impressed with. He even paid tribute to Picasso’s famous guitar sculptures in the design of his earrings and broaches. Graphic patterns aren’t de la Renta’s only fashion insights for resort fashion; he has pulled from his Spanish roots to produce fierce cropped boleros and flirtatious ruffles running down the backs of gowns. He is even featuring polka dot print cocktail dresses, pom-pom covered shoes, and brightly colored paper hats on the runway. Oscar de la Renta’s 2012 resort collection upholds a standard of style unique to his many eclectic influences. -Gretta Hermes
