Borris Powell and his Garden of Love

EnVent Studio turned into a magical wonderland this past Saturday, October 25th, for the final night of Fashion Focus with a show named Le Jardin de L’Amour.

Borris Powell knows how to let his crowd believe in their love for fashion with this very beautiful European love story told through his clothes. For his Spring 2010 collection, the innovative designer chose a décor of dramatic chandeliers and romantic greenery while a DJ spun in the middle of it all. The fairy tale continued when the line made its way down the runway. Models had a touch of avant-garde with extreme hairstyles and makeup, and the clothing took you all the way to a warm spring night strolling in Paris. Sleek jumpsuits in bright colors combined with short, ruffled vests showed us Powell’s modern flair, while cream and white flowing dresses softened up the collection.

Feminine and refreshing was the designer’s palette of soft yellows and purples mixed with grass green and red/oranges. Belted bathing suits contrasted with tight fitting dresses and flowing skirts, all detailed with the theme of ruffled flowers. When there were no flowers to be found, the designer replaced them with sparkling diamonds so that every garment had a touch of glam.

As if the fashion wasn’t satisfying enough, the gift bags spiced up the night with Grey Goose vodka, body wash, the latest issue of Factio and a personal thank you note from the designer. When Powell came out with his closing look of a long, red gown made of ruffled flowers, we realized he brought Paris to Chicago for a night!
