Cartoon cars are driving the success of Prada’s latest spring/summer 2012 offering.
Yet another unexpected motif from the whimsical recesses of Miuccia Prada’s imagination, and soon to be a staple in every wardrobe. Just like the bananas and monkeys of last summer, the collection was an idea perfectly executed. Grey felt coats with appliqué flowers, stiff knife-pleated knee length skirts where exhaust flames licked their pale pink broderie anglaise, and pale gold satin jackets embellished with rhinestones at the shoulder and cars on the back. Emblazoned onto white shirts or appliquéd onto dark green or brown pencil skirts, exhaust flames blazing, no one would have fathomed cartoon cars with appliqué flowers, but leave it to Prada to put two and two together. -Natalie Kuan
