Macy’s Presents the Designers of Chicago
Models took to the runway fashioning pieces from seven Chicago-based designers’ collections for the second annual Macy’s Presents Designers of Chicago fashion show at the Chase Promenade North in Millennium Park on Friday, October 12 at 7:30 p.m. The sold-out runway show required reservations, but was free to the public for general admission.
Andrea Schwartz, Macy’s Public Relations Manager, Melissa Gamble, Director of Fashion Arts and Events for the City of Chicago and Ralph Hughes, Vice President of Corporate Communications at Macy’s, greeted the nights’ guests and announced the ten finalists competing for six spots on The Chicago Fashion Incubator for emerging designers at Macy's on State Street.
Then, in front of an enthusiastic crowd of designers, socialites and Chicago fashion supporters, the lights went down and the music turned up to introduce the designers and their selected garments from their Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 collections. The event showcased seven of the 20 designers collections purchased by Macy’s North located on State Street. The collections became available at Macy’s North on Oct. 9.
As part of Chicago’s Fashion Focus events, the show highlighted the diverse collections of some of the Windy City’s very own talent, including: Cyndi Chan’s ORi'EN by Cyndi Chan, Orlando Espinoza, Katrin Schnabl, Michelle Tan, Lara Miller, Melanie Clark’s Melanie Nicole, and Pamela Vanderlinde’s Zone.
CS Magazine along with Macy’s sponsored a cocktail reception preceding the show. The evening concluded with an after party at up and coming Chicago nightclub, Manor, also hosted by CS Magazine and Elite Model Management. Other sponsors for the evening included: Events by Blue Plate, All Berrain, BBJ Linen, Hall’s, MAC cosmetics, Michael & Michael, Park Grill restaurant, Grey Goose vodka, Voss bottled water and your very own FactioMagazine.
