A Red Hot Night in Millenium Park

It was the quote heard ‘round the skyscrapers: “Chicago is emerging as the next fashion capital.” Announced by Mayor Richard M. Daley last year, 2007 brought on another year Chicago worked towards making his words come true. For the eighth annual year, the Apparel Industry Board held “Chicago Is…Red Hot!!!” a huge fashion event that showcased 43 Chicago based designers, 13 of which were brand new, never before seen designers. The event was held October 11th, at the Chase Promenade North Tent in Millennium Park as a part of the weeklong Fashion Focus event. The evening began with a cocktail reception featuring “meet and greets” with top notch Chicago citizens and was followed by an extravagant display of photographs of “Red Hot Chicagoans” taken by world-renowned fashion photographer, Victor Skrebneski. Next was the most anticipated event, it was onto the Red Hot Runway! Narrated by Susan Glick, the show’s producer, the designer’s pieces were flaunted, an exciting mix of the new and eccentric and of the established and successful. The big show was concluded with a VIP dinner where the designers and other Red Hot Chicagoans were able to sit back and relax and enjoy the Latin tunes of Angel Melendez and the 911 Mambo Orchestra. The event carried on thanks to 12 majors sponsors, as well as, over 60 Chicago supporters. As the October sky illuminated during this sizzling event, it was clear that Mayor Daley may not have been too far off with his famous words, Chicago truly is taking over the world of fashion. So watch out New York, Chicago is…Red Hot!!!

Admission: $300 per patron; $175 per supporter; $50 per person includes standing room only. Preview collections by nearly 50 top Chicago apparel and accessory designers, many debuting their collections at this eighth annual fashion extravaganza. Cocktails, a red-hot runway show produced by Susan Glick and famous fashion photographer Victor Skrebneski as Creative Chair make this evening a must! Presented by the Apparel Industry Board.
