The Sky’s the Limit in Detroit: Playboy Party

While it hasn’t seen the best days for some time, the city of Detroit was completely glowing for the guests and players of Super Bowl XL. Visitors came from around the world to celebrate the big game, illuminating the city with spirit, patriotism, great parties and absolute euphoria. Like the much-anticipated game between Pittsburgh’s Steelers and Seattle’s Seahawks, the parties were crowded, spirited and absolutely extraordinary.

For the seventh consecutive year, Playboy hosted a party in honor of the Super Bowl, bringing the Detroit City Airport Hangar a celebrity-studded guest list and a wide array of beautiful bunnies on Saturday, February 4. With aviation as the party’s consequent theme, we got to attend its party called “Where the Sky is the Limit,” where the guests were charmed by stewardess bunnies or “Playmate Jet Bunnies,” in blue velvet, aviation-inspired bunny suits and fed from customized airplane snack carts. The backdrop of the fabulous red carpet advertised
Cuervo & Ginger, the party’s premiere sponsor and each sponsor, including Miller Lite was integrated in the event through the party’s creative décor.

It’s no wonder that so many of our favorite celebrities were eager to join in on Detroit’s best weekend in a long time, and so this year’s Playboy party was absolutely star-studded. Grammy-winning Kanye West co-hosted, or rather, co-piloted the party, promoting the Kanye West Foundation, which aims to combat escalating drop out rates in urban area high schools nationwide. West, in keeping with the theme as the party’s co-pilot even wore an aviation-inspired leather Gucci leather hat, though the weather outside that evening was snowing enough to warrant the hat at any other party! More stars like Tom Arnold, Joan Jett, Rick Fox, Jenna Jamison, last year’s Dancing with the Stars’ winner Kelly Monaco and the irresistible Josh Lucas were there among others. ABC’s favorite Sunday-night stars, including Grey’s Anatomy stars Patrick Dempsey, Isaiah Washington and Justin Chambers as well as Desperate Housewives’ Ricardo Antonio Chavira, also helped the party gleam with good looks and celebrity power.

Aside from the gleam of hot celebrities, the party also featured a silent auction sponsored by Ticketcity.com to raise money for both the Kanye West Foundation and Athletes Helping Kids, a charity that funds programs for the well-being of our country’s youth-focusing on the importance of education and substance abuse awareness. The items in the auction included tickets to Hugh Hefner’s Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Playboy Mansion, an array of autographed sports memorabilia and, best of all, a guitar autographed by the Rolling Stones, Super Bowl XL’s amazing performers!

Inside the party guests got to watch parachute dancing girls, browse a sexy newsstand and be entertained by sexy DJ Sky Nellor, dancing accordingly on the “scorching dance floor.” Even though Detroit City’s Airport Hangar isn’t exactly on the best side of town, there was no more exciting place to be that Saturday. And yet, all of Detroit was kicking that night!
