The Green Tie Ball XVIII
On September 26, the Green Tie Ball XVIII was held at Chicago Illuminating Company to raise money to benefit the Urban Greening of Chicago. This fabulous gala was sponsored by Highland Park-based company Solo Cup, which was a big contributor to making sure this was the “greenest” event Chicago has seen in years. All food and beverages for 1,500 guests were served on the company’s Bare line, which is made of recycled materials. The crowd consisted of Chicago’s young professionals and socialites, who shelled out up to $225 for the gala, which included casino-style gaming, tasting stations, premium cocktails and a silent auction. The money raised goes to Chicago Gateway Green, a top rated local non-profit doing wonders for Chicago for over 20 years including planting over 3,000 trees, offsetting vehicle carbon emissions and reducing noise pollution. It was definitely one of the parties of the year because when you think about it, who doesn’t want to party for a good cause?
