FACTIO MAGAZINE EXCLUSIVE: This "It" designer dresses style icon Sienna Miller. Watch for his designs in the show this year... "The Glamorama event is a fabulous evening in every sense. The show is so well produced and executed creating a real spectacle of light, music and of course fashion. It really is an occasion to dress glamorously and enjoy the fun and theater of fashion. Chicago is such a great city and Marshall Fields, as the leading store of the city, is the perfect host for such a first class event."
Matthew Williamson,
Internationally Known London-based Fashion Designer

I don’t have the outfit planned yet, but something fun and flashy – like a great dress Christopher Deane or Missoni,  killer heels and hopefully a really good seat to see the show!

Glamorama is Chicago's premier fashion event where local style mavens can flaunt their true individuality. Karanina dresses are this summer’s must have along with anything bohemian with just a hint of glitz. Embrace your own style and mix things up by adding wooden jewelry to silk, a sequined belt to a cotton skirt or flats to a formal gown. Summer is a great excuse for dressing down while still looking stylish.

For Glamorama I am wearing a strapless hand dyed silk dress by wai-ching... in pink with red abstract stitching. It is very unique and I cannot wait to wear it! I am mostly looking forward to the excitement that will be stirring throughout the evening as all the chicago fashionistas pull out all the stops for this much anticipated event!

Tracey Mayer,
Jewelry Designer/Owner

I selected a Tracy Reese dress from Marshall Field's, since Field's is sponsoring the entire Glamorama event.  I really love the way Tracy updates classic silhouettes.  For example, my dress is a very "Audrey Hepburn" type of cocktail dress, quite sweet and feminine.   But, the fabric of the dress is a snakeskin print in gold.   The combination of a low back and feminine bow, combined with racy fabric really makes this dress a hit!  Strappy gold high-heels and a gold purse will complete the outfit.

Jim ( Wetzel ) and I will both be wearing our favorite summer look for guys - designer jeans, (his nudie, mine notify), a cool graphic t (mine trovata, his rogue galley) and cool blazers from Oliver Spencer. We love this look paired with great Italian loafers and a simple belt - it's played down and yet sophisticated at the same time. Plus we love to mix designer pieces with denim.

Bohemian rockstar with a twist of cowboy.  Mixing genres has never been more fun and what better place than a fashion show! In terms of the fashion show...I want to be blown away!  Fashion, fashion, fashion!  Fashion is food for my soul and seeing the eclectic vision of so many fashion-forward individuals is inspiring.

Amy Salinger,
notable Chicago Stylist

The stakes are a little higher when you hit a fashion inspired event like Glamorama -- where models, celebs, and chicago's hip crowd unite under one very "striped" marshall fields roof--but my tactic always remains the same: glam it up with my own sense of style which usually involves a hot pair of high heels, obnoxiously outlandish earings, and something flowing in the middle so I can mingle, groove, and leave a little extra room for the after party's killer chocolate buffet!!!

Rebekah Iliff,
Marketing Director of Rockit Ranch Productions

This year I will be sporting my favorite designs by Nike.

Billy Dec,
President, Rockit Ranch Productions

I think I'm going to be wearing a shirt from Just Cavalli and pants from D&G.

Nina Yoo,
Publicist for Maven Cosmetics

Of course all things depend on the weather, but I am banking on wearing my new vintage (a fashion oxymoron) Emanuelle Ungaro top with a white mini skirt and sky-high sexy Brian Atwood stilettos that will make Rob carry me all night, and no outfit will truly “rock” for me…unless I am dripping in Lana Jewelry™…so I will not disappoint! For me, this is the most special year at Glamorama, being a vendor at Marshall Field’s is an honor in itself, but having Lana Jewelry chosen to be also a feature in the actual show, is a thrill…so I really have to make sure I represent!

Lana Fertelmeister,
President of Lana Jewelry

Glamorama is such an amazing event, with the hottest fashion, great entertainment, fun celebrities, all in one night , here in Chicago at Marshall Fields.  I try to wear local designers as much as possible, so hopefully that is what I will be wearing!  I lean towards Doris Ruth a lot!

Kelly Ryan O’Brien,
Director of Gen Art Chicago

I am attending Glamarama because the event is well produced, entertaining and energetic, which is what fashion is supposed be.  I see Marshall Field’s as a major contributor to the future of Chicago's fashion industry because of their history and continued involvement.  It's important to support those who support what you do.  As far as what I'm wearing, I'd like to say I don't know yet, but I've chosen a rock star awesome suit---not your bosses suit, mind you!  The rest.. my six year old daughter will figure out for me!  I have my own Live Stylist!

Laura Siebold,
Owner of LiveStyle and regular ABC contributor

I'm not sure what I'm wearing yet, probably something fun, festive and comfortable.
Glamorama is definitely one of the top fashion events in the city. I also like that it's a benefit with a sense of style and elegance without being stuffy. Everyone seems to have a lot of fun. It does a great job of generating excitement for the fall fashion season and shows how truly fashionable our city is.

Beth Wilson,
Chicago correspondent for Women's Wear Daily

I have no idea about the outfit yet but the shoes and jewelry are set!  I will be wearing jet vintage necklaces that I sell at Josephine along with black satin boots that corset up the back by Chisenefrega also sold at Josephine.” Nicole:  “I will be wearing red suede cut out ankle boots along with a thick Victorian gold cameo cuff.

Danielle Rego and Nicole Rego Shockley,
Owners of Josephine Boutique

My outfit combination for Glamorama will be based upon my feelings at the time and the message I want to express to others. The versatility of my wardrobe allows for this luxury. So far, I am thinking about wearing a flouncy lime dress made of chiffon with tons of swirls, jet black sandals to enhance the contrast, and tamed with earthy earrings of stringed stones.

I am looking forward to seeing the fall fashions...would like to see our local fashions trend closer to European and Latin American styles. My fall/winter collection highlights scarpin shoes, military green wool coats, and embroidered knit scarves.

Vintage recycled tree suit, chucks, and a COEXIST tee.. . of course. The best part about Glamorama is knowing we are increasing the wide range of people influenced by the inspiring Art Institute of Chicago.

Co-Founder/Designer COEXIST

I’m dressing around accessories – my Zazii "Chloe" handbag in silver (the same handbag Jessica Simpson wore in gold on the red carpet), a glamorous cocktail ring by Tracey Mayer and my Pucci heels I just snagged from eluxury.com! Now on to the dress…

Factio Asks the Celebs for Tips on Dressing for Galas…

Supermodel and Author Carol Alt: I think confidence can carry off anything! Look at how the celebs are dressing! However, it is always best to be honest with oneself and not dress with the trends, but dress for your body type. I also don’t like hair that is too sprayed-or rather looks too sprayed!

W hen getting ready for an event, I like to give myself time, play some upbeat music and choose what I want to wear, not what I think I should wear because I haven’t worn it in a while or I just got it and I feel I should wear it. I wear what I am in the mood for, what makes me happy and feeling good.

Designer Anne Fontaine: The biggest no-no is wearing something you are not comfortable in just because it is “in fashion”. My tips for getting ready? Put on an Anne Fontaine shirt, a little bit of mascara and a touch of color on the lips and as a woman, you are ready for anything!

Newsweek’s Global Face of Beauty Saira Mohan: Don’t wear too much makeup or perfume. Both are meant to subtly enhance…not to overtake. The scent of a woman can be powerful. A woman’s scent can differentiate her from the others. The magic of perfume is the ability to mix with one’s own skin to produce a truly unique scent. If a woman puts on too much, she will instead be left smelling just like a bottle of perfume.

Lisa and Brittny Gastineau from E’s hit show:
LG:
Don't repeat something you were photographed in—you’ll undoubtedly show up in one of those columns. Give yourself enough time! I always underestimate how long I'm going to need and end up being a bit more than "fashionably" late.
BG: Get your hair and makeup taken care of beforehand, that way you have plenty of time to try on different outfits and decide what to wear.
LG: Also, if it's a big event, sometimes it's better to play it safe. No one wants to be on the "worst-dressed" list! A classic outfit with some outragous accessories are a good way to be safe but to show your style. Most importantly, make sure you're comfortable. If not, you'll have a bad time and people can always tell when you're comfortable in your clothes.
BG: It's all about the shoes anyway.
