Anna Wintour thinks the White House Could Help Solve the Current Fashion Crisis
Yesterday the CFDA had a town hall style meeting to try and come up with a plan to solve the current fashion crisis. Designers are looking at fashion shows as just for "press" or even being "irrelevant" as stated by Diane Von Furstenberg. Why? Because of the internet. The fast turnaround of the world wide web, where customers can see collections right after a fashion show is hurting the fashion industry because by the time the items get into the stores, they already seem dated. “Could someone lead a committee that would make ground rules for retailers of when the discounting starts, and then all the retailers can agree to it?” Ms. Wintour suggested. “That’s illegal!” Ms. Von Furstenberg said with some horror.“Is that something we can change?” Ms. Wintour said. “We have friends in the White House now!”Read the full story at NY Magazine.
