On May 18th, Chicago’s most fashionable enjoyed the official opening party of Intermix at the Gold Coast location. Guests enjoyed a flow of mojitos and champagne while they peeked at the latest mix of European and American styles as they rubbed elbows with CEO Khajak Keledjian and Chicago fashion elite, like fashion designer Orlando Espinoza, jewelry designer Kristin Amato and handbag designer Diego Rocha.
FACTIO MAGAZINE: Who is the Intermix customer? KHAJAK KELEDJIAN:I think she is a confident, creative, feminine, modern woman. She’s somebody who likes to be individual. She likes that unexpected and unique innovative way of dressing, sexy, but not over the top.
FM: How does your own style match your store? KK: Right now I’m wearing Adidas sneakers, Diesel jeans, a Gucci tie…with cool cufflinks. One says “guilty” and the other one says “not guilty.” The beauty of
Intermix is it all comes together. You create an outfit and you can really
interchange it, create another outfit out of it.
FM: What are some of your favorite
cities regarding influences on US fashion? KK: Chicago’s a fashion city itself because it’s emphasizing fashion shows and bringing fashion into the city. I think New York is very strong. For me, it’s more about NY, LA, definitely Paris, London – London is very strong.
FM: Is there anything I haven’t asked that you’d like our readers to know? KK:They should come and check out the stores! This is the first time we’re opening two stores together. It’s like giving twins birth!
FM: What’s next for Intermix? KK: We’re opening in LA, right across from the Ivy.
