The Perfect Fit
At the tender age of five, Meghan Cleary says she “became obsessed with a pair of baby blue espadrilles from Kmart.” To this day, Meghan can recall the appliquéd flowers that adorned her precious pair; and though her taste now leans more toward four-inch than floral-festooned blue, Cleary’s shoe obsession hasn’t budged a centimeter.
Meghan’s shoe expertise, combined with her wicked sense of humor and fabulous fashion-savvy, has made her a style-world celebrity known simply as Miss Meghan. In her career as the “shoe psychologist” (a term made tailor-made for her by Isaac Mizrahi himself) Miss Meghan has shared her shoe-savvy on shows like the Today Show, Tyra Banks and Extra! In between trips to the shoe store, Meghan uses her writing talent (some girls have all the luck!) to whip up regular features for Life and Style Weekly. Her debut book, The Perfect Fit: What Your Shoes Say About You, is a pink-bound style bible. The adorable, dishy book gives insight into what a person’s shoes say about his or her personality, so if you’re a stiletto-wearer falling for a sneaker-devotee, check out what Miss Meghan has to say about your romantic possibilities.
In early June, Miss Meghan sauntered into Chicago’s Bliss Spa for a night of brownies, mini-pedicures and the author’s famous “Stiletto Seminar.” Dressed in a hot pink Marni dress and black cutout stilettos by Courtney Crawford, the lovely Miss Meghan provided advice for tottering around in towering heels this summer. Some of Factio’s favorite tips: know your stiletto limit! If you’re wearing your super-hot (but super-painful) four-inch man-killers to a cocktail bash, Meghan suggests stowing a pair of ballet flats in your bag. After all, no shoe looks cute enough to make up for a painful grimace on your face.
