New York Style: Jessica Stark
Public Relations Manager Judith Ripka Jewelry

New York "It" girl, Jessica Stark started her fashoin career as a PR assistant for Louis Vuitton, then moved on to Gucci's advertising department, with a follow up as a Merchandising Editor for Lucky Magazine and then at New York Magazine. Now she manages public relations for the prestigious jewelry line - Judith Ripka.

Factio Magazine: What are your style tips for holiday dressing?
Jessica Stark:
Tis the season to shine bright, so this holiday, a true fashionista won’t forget something gold, something sparkly (preferably designed by Judith Ripka – my favorite!) and her dazzling smile!

FM: What key fashion pieces do you have your eye on this season?
JS:
I love anything that feels festive – metallic heels and clutch handbags, large sparkly earrings (I still think chandeliers are fab!) and feminine black lace tops.

FM: What's your biggest fashion vice...What do you have to have every season?
JS:
I know it sounds cliché, but SHOES! SHOES! SHOES!

FM: What's a fashion no-no, when attending special events, galas and more?
JS:
The biggest fashion no-no is to wear what’s ”hot,” even if it doesn’t flatter your shape. Accent your best features and downplay trouble spots. Most of all, look like you’re wearing your OWN clothes—no one should look like they did in their Mom’s closet when they were 13! Also, just because something is “in,” don’t be afraid to push the envelope. Be bold, but smart.

FM: What's your signature style?
JS:
I think I’d have to call my style classic with a twist. I love comfortable, chic jeans (my fave are Earnest Sewn), the perfect white tee (C&C, of course) and this season, I default to my black riding boots. But, as a PR professional working for Judith Ripka in Manhattan, I’m surrounded by incredibly glamorous women. So, I step it up by having a no-nonsense handbag, knockout heels and a fabulous jewelry (even it’s just one piece – my favorite is Judith Ripka’s famous Lola Ring!).

FM: Define the style in your city. Which ladies from which city worldwide do you think have or had the most impeccable style?
JS:
I think Jackie O continues to be emblematic of New York feminine style. She was elegant and graceful. Sarah Jessica Parker also has it down. What I love most about her is that she isn’t afraid to take chances.

FM: How long or how fast can you get ready for an event?
JS: Unfortunately, my schedule doesn’t let me primp for an event, and I always find myself running out of time and needing to get ready in a flash. Luckily, for me, working for Judith Ripka helps – I always have the perfect finishing touch for every outfit! I guess if I had to nail down a length of time, I’d say 30 minutes (but, I know my boyfriend would disagree!)

FM: What would people be most surprised to know about you?
JS:
As much as I love going out, I’m a homebody at heart. My favorite thing to do is curl up on the couch with my dog, Lucy-Anne, and gab with my girl friends.
