Ever heard of Lenpur before? No, it’s not the latest exotic vacation destination, but rather an amazingly soft (think cashmere) and silky fabric that happens to be biodegradable and made from white pine pulp. Lenpur was just one of the many sustainable and earth conscious materials from Pivot Boutique on display at the Green Event party, hosted by Factio Magazine at the W Chicago City Center, on October 13th. Jessa Brinkmeyer, the gorgeous and innovative owner of Pivot, was on hand to explain the eco-conscious concept to guests. Pivot is Chicago’s first eco-friendly boutique.
The more than thirty designers featured at
Pivot all use fabrics and techniques that have a low impact on the environment: most do not use any pesticides in the fabric cultivation process. The material derives from easily renewable resources, is biodegradable and organic. This allows for long-term sustainability for the earth, not to mention, feel-good shopping.
As guests of the Green Event perused Pivot’s fashions, many couldn’t help but touch the fabrics, curious to feel a dress made from bamboo or the softness of a baby alpaca scarf.
And the fashions spoke for themselves: a gorgeous patterned dress, a sculpted, wide-leg pant suit, a cascading cream colored cape and a stunning little gold number were amongst the coveted designs displayed.
Green Event invitees sipped cocktails provided by 10 Cane Rum, like the the daiquiri, the cube libre, and the flamingo, among others and noshed on tempting appetizers while listening to dj Ramiro Garcia spinning tunes.
Shopping has never felt so good or so altruistic; we love being green.
