Silhouette Fashion Show

Aloft Aerial Dance, Graham Webb, The Webb Sisters, and a multi-designer runway show entertained the 250 supporters of the Silhouette fashion show, organized by The Spina Bifida Association of Illinois on Friday, Oct. 5, at Architectural Artifacts, 4325 N. Ravenswood in Chicago.

The evening began with an hour of cocktails sponsored by Blavod Black Vodka and hors d' oeuvres of chocolate fondue provided by The Melting Pot, along with other Italian and Chinese cuisines from Jewell Events Catering. Guests placed bids on silent auction items and entered for raffle prizes donated by Orbitz, Art Set Jewelers and Tucker Company, among many others.

Attendees listened to inspirational British speaker Graham Webb, co-founder of Graham Webb International, a hair care product line. Webb spoke about his personal struggles and accomplishments as a person with Spina Bifida. His touching story, which he also shares in “Out of the Bottle,” became a best selling autobiography.

Although honorary chairs Mayor Richard Daley and Mrs. Maggie Daley were unable to attend, the night included other notable personalities, including Silhouettes’ emcee Rob Johnson, News Anchor from CBS 2 Chicago, and Mia Heaston, Miss Illinois USA.

Aloft Aerial Dance, a trio acrobatic group bedazzled in jewelry from designer Rachelle Raabe’s R. Raven line as they hung from the loft space of Architectural Artifacts. The night continued with runway fashions, which showcased the diverse collections of Sarah Trutter, Orlando Espinoza, Lara Miller, JL Marks, Katrin Schnabl and Price Walton.

A special performance by Webb’s daughters, British musician duo The Webb Sisters and the announcement of the silent auction and raffle winners concluded the night’s events. A total of $18,000 was raised for The Spina Bifida Association of Illinois. Other sponsors included, Empower Women Publications, Style Chicago, Douglas Kent Designs and Spacca Napoli. Guests left with gift bags of bronzer and lipstick provided by Wella and Graham Webb International. For information about the Spina Bifida Association of Illinois, visit: www.sbail.org.
