The Bidwell Spa Treatment
Jennifer Berg

A trip to the spa is the ultimate in relaxation. And yet, who has time for a day at the spa? The hectic pace of our days barely leaves us time to brush our teeth, and at the rate that work piles up, we’re lucky to get any amount of shuteye. Needless to say, most of us are in dire need of a little R&R, but even thinking about taking the time off of work, well, stresses us out. Kind of a catch 22, isn’t it? Enter Bidwell Botanicals, the Atlanta-based company dedicated to bringing “affordable, spa-like beauty” to your home. Don’t you just love that Southern hospitality?

For a dose of the Bidwell experience, check out the company’s new-and-improved website (www.bidwellbotanicals.com) which promises more information, more products, and easier shopping. What’s that? Don’t have time to cruise the website? We at Factio have tried our own hand at Southern charm by pre-selecting some Bidwell goods we just know you’ll love. You can thank us later.

Bidwell encourages you to “leave the detergent in the dishwasher” when it comes to your skin. Instead, go for creamy bars of soap stuffed with natural ingredients. One of our favorites, the Milk n’ Honey soap, combines fresh goat’s milk with oatmeal, raw honey, shea butter and fragrant oils; yup, it feels as luscious as it sounds. The blackberry sage soap is a unisex scent (blackberry with a crisp, herbal edge) and-- we’ll admit it-- we fell for its cool, swirly pattern.

Blackberries and honey are mere appetizers to Bidwell’s most recent and decadent line to date, La Patisserie. The new line features scents that take after Paris’s sweetest spot: French bakeries. The silk shake bubbling milk bath produces flavorful foam; “shake” options include chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. (Kind of like a trip to McDonald’s, but with way fewer calories). The La Patisserie line also includes a spray-on, oil-free moisturizer that smells like vanilla cake. The women at Bidwell suggest stashing it in the fridge for a cooling effect in summertime; that sounds to us like a perfect way to smell baking cake without leaning over the scorching oven. And, come to think of it, since when has real cake moisturized your face? Speaking of your face, the Bidwell Facial Care Kit has got yours covered with four lip balms, a clarifying clay mask, facial soap, and a lavender facial cream. There is a face kit for every skin type, and it’s packaged in a cute pinstripe box with a bow--don’t forget this item when gift-time rolls around!

Even men can choose from a savory selection of skincare goods at Bidwell. The lemongrass sage shaving bar has a clean, citrus herbal scent and is said to work up a nice foamy lather.

So whether you crave lemons, milkshakes, or just some awesome beauty products, we bid you check out Bidwell. Those of you far from the Peach State can have all the Bidwell products with just a click of the mouse; come on now, isn’t it time to unwind?
