Glossed and Found's Launch Party

Free pampering from head to toe. Essie manicures and pedicures, facials by Clarins, makeovers by Smashbox, massages by Silken Tent, delicate ice cream sandwiches by Sweet Collective, an endless flow of spatinis and cucumber mojitos – and that’s not even half of it.

It’s heaven, brought to you by Stacey Roney, CEO of Beauty On Call and Haute PR. All the faces of Chicago’s fashion media and social scene joined on August 14 at the swanky Chicago Illuminating Company to celebrate the launch of Glossed and Found, Roney’s new online magazine for beauty, fashion and lifestyle.

“I’ve been to so many different events, and I think that if there’s one thing that brings everyone together that everyone loves, it’s free spa services,” said Roney. “I just want people to come in and really experience what we’re all about, and have fun!”

And did they love. Men and women thoroughly explored the 20-year culmination of Roney’s favorite talents, brands and spas, which also included acupuncture, hairstyling and even Botox. Proceeds from the event benefited Prescription Well Being, a non-profit organization that provides free beauty and spa services to women living with cancer. Guests also went home with huge boxes stuffed with products by MAC, Stila, Philosophy, Laura Mercier and more.

Although the magazine includes editorial content, calendars, and weekly contests, Glossed and Found’s main point of difference is its video, a weekly segment featuring everything from beauty tips to industry news.

“Personally, in [print] magazines, I’m reading how to create a smoky eye, and it’s hard to take what’s written on the page and go actually create that smoky eye,” said Roney. “So we thought, let’s take the best of the best from all of the magazines that we love and format it into an online magazine that gives quick tips, techniques, and other videos pertinent to Chicagoans.”

Glossed and Found is hosted by actor and reporter Ashley Lobo and CS Fashion Associate D. Graham Kostic. “They both bring so much to the table,” said Roney. “And Graham is involved with so many things that we don’t even know of. When Zac Posen came to town, he did a personal appearance and Graham got a foot in the door through CS.”

Kostic said the best part of Glossed and Found is the spotlight on the who’s who of the industry, such as designers and boutique owners.

“I love to meet with the experts and the creators and really crack their shells,” he said. Not to mention drilling his guests with Family Feud, “lightning round”-style questions. “That’s my favorite part!” he said, laughing.
