Horseshoe Casino's Grand Opening

Horseshoe Casino's Grand Opening

8.8.08 was certainly a lucky day for gamblers in the Midwest, even Oprah's private, celebrity chef Art Smith who attended exclaimed, “This is the biggest party in the Midwest!”  Horseshoe Casino celebrated the grand opening of their $500 million casino along Indiana’s Northwest lakefront, only 20 minutes away from Chicago.  The new Horseshoe Casino is a gigantic 350,000 sq. ft, with 108,000 sq. ft. of gambling space which is comparable to the Las Vegas Mandalay Bay floor.

Horseshoe Casino threw a grand opening in true celebrity fashion.  Bette Midler was there to christen the 3,500 seat entertainment facility, The Venue, with her Las Vegas extravaganza “The Show Must Go On.” Josh Kelley also kicked off his national tour on the Skyline Stage. Other stars such as Tara Reid, Bethenney Frankel, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, Cheryl Burke, John Scurti, Noah Bean, Esai Morales, and professional poker player Phil Gordon graced the red carpet. Guests were invited to enjoy Horseshoe’s latest poker room, Asian gaming area, VIP Seven Stars lounge, wide selections of upscale dining, and over 3,200 slots and live keno area. Other entertainment throughout the evening included sounds by celebrity deejay DJ Evalicious, Canadian Sophie Milman performances, Chicago Catz, and String Theory.

As if the 8.8.08 party was not enough, the casino kept the party going the next night on August 9th.  The Venue proudly presented The Smashing Pumpkins first Chicago concert since the bands reunion. The Seven Stars VIP lounge provided guests with Roger Taylor of Duran Duran’s first deejay debut in the United States.  Lucky for us, the excitement does not stop here.  Look for upcoming shows and performances by Stone Temple Pilots on August 14th, Billy Idol on August 16th, Sara Silverman on August 29th, Liza Minnelli on August 30th, and Alicia Keys on September 13th.

Since its initial start in Reno, Nevada 70 years ago, Harrah’s Entertainment has become the world’s largest provider of branded entertainment.  The corporation proudly owns Harrah’s, Horseshoe, Caesars, and London Clubs International family brand locations.
