Jaime Pressly - Acress of NBC's "My Name is Earl" and Designer of J'aime by Jaime Pressly
Jaime Pressly has been hard at work since the age of 13 and has starred in a stifling number of hit teen comedies, independent features and box-office successes. Best known for acting in roles such as Joy on “My Name Is Earl” and gracing magazine covers, fashion designer has now been added to the list. J’aime by Jaime Pressly was launched during LA Fashion Week and its immediate success has already been buzzed about in recent issues of “US Weekly” and “Apparel News,” among others. These body conscious knit designs are created from luxuriously soft fabrics and have incorporated layering and versatility, making every piece interchangeable. We recently caught up with Jaime to get the inside scoop at her dual career as an actess and designer, find out her travel hotspots and more.
FACTIO MAGAZINE: Give us an inside look at your career as an actress and as a fashion designer.
JAIME PRESSLY: I have been very lucky as an actress to have worked for the last 11 yrs & couldn't be happier about "My Name Is Earl." My career as an actress has enabled me to be a fashion designer to create a line of clothing for women which is something I have always wanted to do, since childhood.
FM: Describe your signature style.
JP: I like to be really comfortable but still presentable. I'm a bit of a tomboy so that comes through in whatever I wear. My clothing line is a perfect example of my personal style as every piece can be dressed up or down & is made out of buttery soft modal so its always comfortable.
FM: What are your personal favorite shops worldwide?
JP: Lisa Klien, H Lorenzo, M Frederic, Dungarees & Barneys. I also love Gucci & Theory.
FM: Where are some of your favorite places to travel and what do you always pick up for your wardrobe?
JP: My vacations are spent in warm tropical places where the water is turquoise. For that I really just need some good bathing suits & comfy sun dresses.
FM: What are you always on the hunt for?
JP: Perfect jeans & great shoes
FM: What women and men (from which city worldwide) have great style and why?
JP: George Clooney because his style is always classic & comfortable which i think fits his
personality. Gwen Stefani because she is always original, she has her own sense of style & she's not afraid to take risks, which I think also fits her personality.
FM: Do you think money and style go hand in hand or can style never be bought? Is it something you just have?
JP: I think having style is like having rhythm, it can't be taught or bought. Some people can dance to any music with no lessons at all, where as others can't even snap to a beat after years of lessons, you either get it or you don't.
FM: What would people be most surprised to know about you?
JP: That I am extremely domestic. I love to cook & garden on my days off.
FM: Did you know when you started in the entertainment industry that you would rise to the success that you have?
JP: I didn't expect anything, however I am someone who doesn't give up easily & i'm not afraid to work hard for what I want.
FM: If you weren't in this business, where would you be?
JP: I would probably be running a dance studio back home in North Carolina.
FM: What tips would you give women and men in general to be well rounded, balancing out life and career?
JP: Always remember where you came from & keep your two feet planted on the ground, be careful not to get ahead of yourself & pay attention to life first.
FM: Where do you see yourself in five years?
JP: Married with children, still doing "My Name Is Earl," with a successful clothing company.
